Raging
What’s Eating You?
Having just watched “The Boss” play Glastonbury, I was reminded of this quote from him ‘The artists people are interested in have something eating at them. Elvis. What was eating at that guy? Why did he have to sing like that and move like that? Jerry Lee Lewis, what was eating at him? What was eating at Hank Williams? Johnny Lydon? Something was. So the idea is: how do you manage that thing that’s eating at you, without letting it eat you? ‘Cause that’s what it wants to do. The thing that’s eating at you, wants to eat you. And so your life is…how do you keep that from happening?’ – (Bruce Springsteen) find out what’s eating people at Songs of Rage and the West End Centre by going to our Wall of Rage. If you have something eating you, why not talk to one of the Songs of Rage team
Jesus Christ is Raging!
“Jesus Christ is RAGING, Raging in the streets,
where injustice spirals and real hope retreats.
Listen, Lord Jesus, I am angry too.
In the Kingdoms causes, let me RAGE with you.”
A verse from the hymn, Jesus Christ Is Waiting by John L. Bell & Graham Manle
Kaj Munk
“Our task today is recklessness. For what we Christians lack is not psychology or literature… we lack a holy RAGE – the recklessness which comes from the knowledge of God and humanity. The ability to RAGE when justice lies prostrate on the streets and when the lie rages across the face of the earth… a holy anger about the things that are wrong in the world. To RAGE against the ravaging of God’s earth and the destruction of God’s world. To RAGE when little children must die of hunger, when the tables of the rich are sagging with food. To RAGE at senseless killing of so many and against the madness of militaries. To RAGE at the lie that calls threat of death and the strategy of destruction peace. To RAGE against complacency. To restlessly seek that recklessness that will change and seek to change human history until it conforms to the norms of the Kingdom of God. Remember the signs of the church have been the Lion, the Lamb, the Dove and the Fish, but never the Chameleon.”
