Songs of Rage CD... Vol 1

Songs of Rage CD Vol.1Rage Fanzine is a year old and to celebrate we've decided to put together a CD with some of our favourite bands that we have covered over that time. It's a little something we like to call Songs Of Rage Vol I "Now That's What I Call Simply The very best Moods of our greatest local music scene." or to put it simply "NTWICSTVBMOOGLMS".

If you've been given or found a copy of the limited edtion 500 CD's of which some have been hand designed by the bands themselves making them even more unique, why not leave a message on our forum to say where you found it and who you like on it. Feel free to keep the CD or pass it on to someone else (perhaps a friend or stranger who you feel is in need of a little musical joy! We want to see how far the CDs will spread so put them on a train or in your local music shop for someone to find and hopefully whoever finds it will do the same! You can keep track of where your CD ends up by visiting our forum and looking for your disc number.

The artwork was designed by Craigy Lee

We hope you love the bands and the music they make as much as we do. Keep the local scene alive.

Below are the downloadable Mp3's if you weren't lucky enough to get your hands on the CD.

Stagecoach

Hieroglyphicsstagecoach.jpg

They’ve already supported Twin Atlantic and Los Campesinos! in 2011 and recorded a Maida Vale session for Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show. Clean cut, indie rock, reminiscent perhaps of the Brit pop era with a modern twist. Catchy tunes and a lot of fun. Most recently noticeable on the soundtrack for the movie “Killing Bono.” Could Stagecoach be the next U2?... Let's hope not eh.

Foe

Tyrant  Songfoe.jpg

Experimental, Industrial, Rock. Creativity is the name of the game when it comes to Hannah Clark (formerly of Arthur). Having just launched their first EP at the Westy in March 2011 there is a huge buzz about the scene and the prospects of Foe. Having signed a major label deal and having their video posted by Shirley Manson on her Facebook page, we wait with anticipation as to what impact they might have on the national scene.

A Stranger In Moscow

Misconstructed Beatsastranger.jpg

The longest anticipated album in the area and still no signs yet? They just want to keep us waiting. Guildford's A Stranger In Moscow, are described as post hardcore guitars with progressive arrangements, Synths, samples and hooks. Creating a symphony of sound on the live stage. I guess we just have to keep waiting for the album...

Cities Of Glass

Clever My Dearcities.jpg

The first band to come out of the “Rock School” at the Westy COG are probably the most exciting new band to come out of our scene since Reuben. The massive potential of the Fleet indie rock foursome can be heard on their remarkable EP and their growing confidence on the live stage is impressive. With song writing talent that is good enough to take these guys to the top. Don't miss out on saying you saw them first.

Freeze The Atlantic

The Alibifta.jpg

Freeze The Atlantic is the three way marriage of Reuben, Hundred Reasons and Archie And The Instincts. They sound like, well what it would sound like if you put all those bands in a blender and switched it on. Clearly they are a band who are enjoying a new found freedom far enough removed from their old sounds, but with enough to keep any fans of their previous bands more than happy.

Little Signals

Head Over Firelitsigs.jpg

Female fronted 3 piece Little Signals say they are just three friends playing, because they love to, but Little Signals have a haunting simplicity described as sparse and interesting with comparisons to Florence And The Machine.

Our Lost Infantry

I Love You Sandra Billsonoli.jpg

The thinking man or woman's band. This is not music by numbers. Catchy choruses harmonious vocals all played over swirling epic guitars. The Aldershot lads have finished self-recording an album, and are courting labels for a release. Recently going down a storm at the Eagle radio sessions gig at the Westy OLI have the makings of a Radiohead esque band written all over them.

Hold Your Horse Is

You Show Uphyhi.jpg

Frimley/Fleet based, math rock, trio HYHI are a fine example of what is great about our local scene. Non pretentious and highly energetic performances have seen these boys get praise from the likes of BBC6 Music, Rock Sound and err.. Front magazine. Selling out of their debut release “Rammin' It Home” relentlessly touring and with a fan funded album on the way. HYHI are DIY in the truest sense.

Charlotte Clark

Live A Littlecclark.jpg

With a growing local fan base the talent of Charlotte Clark is relatively untapped to the wider audience, but the maturity (She sounds like she's digested her older sister/parents record collection) and strength in both her vocal and song writing ability set her apart from her peers. There's an EP on the way and it's also worth checking out her youtube channel for regular updates and some great covers. A big talent with a bright future.

Sissy And The Blisters

Hey Bettysissy.jpg

Think Joy Division meets The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. with a Gothic undertone. Guildford's Sissy And The Blisters have been picking up air play on Radio 1, 2, 6 Music, XFM and even Absolute Radio. Their latest single made Q magazines top 50 singles and having recently supported Cage The Elephant and Dinosaur Pile Up, their chaotic live shows shouldn't be missed.
